City of San Antonio with a population of 1.46mn is the seventh most populated city in the United States of America and the second most populated city in the state of Texas. San Antonio was named by the 1691 Spanish expedition, on the name of Saint Anthony de Padua. San Antonio was a major Spanish settlement in 18th century and had many frontier missions, notable of them are The Alamo, San Antonio Missions National historic park both of these are now the UNESCO world heritage sites. The city has the largest concentration of military bases and at times is also called as the military city.
