Nail Disorder

Nail disorders are a common reason for visiting a dermatologist. The nail matrix, nail bed, nail plate, and periungual make up the adult nail organ. Nail diseases can affect people of all ages. Thorough examination of fingernails and toenails during physical examination may reveal localized nail abnormalities requiring treatment or evidence of underlying systemic disease requiring further investigation. may be obtained. Laboratory, dermatoscopic, imaging, microbiological (including mycological), and histological examinations are all used to evaluate them. Nails provoke very few pathogenic reactions. Idiopathic diseases, infections, cancer, and drug-induced reactions are examples of these alterations. About half of all nail diseases are caused by infections, 15% by inflammatory or metabolic disorders, and 5% by malignancies and pigmentary changes.
